2016 Spring

Note: This newsletter is marked 2016 Winter , but its chronology follows the 2015 Fall newsletter. So it might be construed as 2016 Spring , but calling it 2016 Winter is misleading. Since this is short, I'll type it in for the benefit of search engines. ROSE LAKE FOREST PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION...

I'm Against Paving the Roads

It was Pine River Timber Co. (PRTC) that paid to build all the roads in Rose Lake Forest (RLF). PRTC was really just my dad, Allan Wood, and his friend Charlie Rambeau. Dad's original plan was to make all the roads gravel, not too much different than what they are now. Sure, gravel roads were a lot ...

Re: Important Discussion Regarding the Trails

I'd like to thank the property owners who have contacted me regarding the Trails . A great many of you thanked me for the years our family allowed, or at least never objected to the use of the Trails land for hiking and riding. Nearly everyone I spoke with, including those who said they never used t...

It pays to read the rules

Here's an article I found that may be interesting to our members. This is NOT about Rose Lake Forest, I'm just including it for general interest about homeowner associations: Her Homeowners Association Made Her Take Down Her Flagpole. Then She Read the Rules and Made a Discovery. by Zach Noble It al...

Spring, 2015

Sorry this is late. I didn't get a copy of this newletter until today (04/16), when it was mailed to me by a friend. Since it gives notice of an upcoming meeting in March, I assume it came out sometime around the first of the year. If you'd like to see these newsletters posted here in a more timely ...

I don't use the Trails. Why should I care?

I've gotten lots of calls from people who say they don't use the Trails and so, they figure, none of this makes any difference to them. For the folks who don't use their land at all, and who also don't care if the property values go down, I guess they'd be right. But for the benefit of everyone else...

Re: getting to the trails

Hi warren26, You didn't say which way you've been using to get into the Trails, but I think I can guess. Looking at an aerial photo I can see a trail that starts on Osceola Ledge, right about where it intersects with Lookout. The trail heads southeasterly through Lot 95, goes across a part of South ...
